Working it

I like pilates.  Not as much as I like yoga, but it’s not too bad.  I went to one class yesterday, and it felt pretty good.  Low impact is so great.  I don’t come home feeling like my ankle is going to burst or walking around in discomfort the next day.  Well, a bit of sore muscles but that will eventually go away once I’m more in shape.

Brandon got a work out of a life time at his first session on Monday.  Guy, the owner, was his trainer, and they concentrated on arms.  When he got back, Brandon had to use his right arm to assist his left arm in taking a drink of water.  Yeah, that much of a work out.  Then again, Guy was trying to find his limits.  Well, I think we found that!

His next session was on Wednesday at 7 with Guy, but he switched up an hour so he could work out while I was in pilates instead of sitting around for an hour.  The other trainer had him work on his arms some more.

Remember when Wesley came back from the dead in The Princess Bride?  That was how Brandon was last night, flopping about trying to get onto and off the bed, and try to lay on his side without using his arms.  The next funniest things I’ve seen since his landing underneath his desk when he got out of bed buzzed.  (Long story.  Ask me later.)

Yeah, I dig the stretchy type of workout, and a bit of cardio.

And I start to eat more veggies, more proteins and less carbs.  Not 100% low carb or Atkins, but trying to be more conscious.  For example, we went to Fuddrucker’s today and I got the low carb plate which is the burger meat and cheese, and a side salad.  But I did have a piece of lemon cake at work.  That type of thing.

Hey, the nutritionist at the gym said now that we’re working out (and B’s trying lose the love handle), we should be eating MORE protein and less carbs.  He didn’t say NO carbs.  So there.

Me? No carbs?  Who the frell are you kidding???  I love sugar.  I love pasta.  I love bread.  And I sure as hell don’t like to be counting anything regarding my food whether its calories or carbs.  I’m going with the “more meat and veggies” diet.

So here’s what my regimen is going to look like:  Monday - Yoga (I would continue to go through park and rec for this one).  Wednesday - Pilates.  Friday - Tai Chi.  Cardio and perhaps some weights while I’m at the gym.  And go to gym whenever Brandon goes if the schedule works out.

Hope we stick with this.  Now that I have a blog, I can come back here in a couple of months to check if I’m right. ;-)

Work it

Brandon and I signed up with “Will Train U”, a personal training/small gym in Lakewood.  Pretty much because the whole “family” joins up.  Shane gets Serena working out, then his siter and her fiance, his mom, and many of his friends.  James and Aurora also signed up last week.  Yeah it’s a bit further out there for us, but for $40 a month of small gym where everyone knows your name ain’t bad.

Brandon will start training with a trainer next week.  His goals are to first lose the belly then gaining strengths and building muscles around what he has lost i.e. injured knee, broken wrist.  Just one month though.  We’ll throw him into intensive training for a month, and then he maintains the course afterward.  Can’t afford to have him go on this too long.

The gym also has a few classes in the evening which I will be taking.  Pilates and Tai Chi are my 2 choices.  The other two are kickboxing which I don’t want to do because of my bad ankle, and aerobics which terrifies me after I watched 3 old ladies working it today.  Oy!  It was just too boring.

Yes we will still be doing yoga on Mondays until the end of August.  We’re paid through then.

I so totally dig yoga.  I hope I like pilates as much.  Or else I’m just throwing my money away at the gym.  Hehe.  I do like using weight machine, but not as much as doing stretches.

I’m going to feel these tomorrow I can tell.

Voyeur

There is no better place for a subcription-only webcam than from our balcony.

Our apartment situates above the apartment’s only hot tub in an 50% college student residents complex.  It’s been a bane to our existence with noise and smokes, but at certain times it does provides entertainment.

:: Classic Case ::

Brandon and I were watching television one evening.  There were a whole bunch of “kids” in the jacuzzi, chatting loudly because either they were drunk or needed attention.  One voice, high pitched and slightly Valley Girl accented, carried further than the rest.

“Yah, like he was totally different, you know.  Like, he was sexy, and like totally hot, and stuff. But he’s not like really sexual-sexual.  He was more like an intellectual sexual.

I don’t think we need to discuss the value of education in today’s society…

Anyways.  Mostly it’s the people trying to get it on in the jacuzzi.  During the day.  At night.  After hours.  Drunk.  Sober.  You name it.

The people living below us, right next to the jacuzzi, has a 9-year old son.   I won’t be surprise if they’d get the hell out of there when their lease is up.

Can’t wait to get out of here ourselves.  It’s a nice place to live and all.  But the college kids are driving us crazy.

Grrrr

So much to say but I can’t actually say anything. You can email me and ask. But those who really know me already know what this is about.

Who knows I could ever be bitter about the world! True, I’m married to the Brood Master, but his dark moods are not contagious. Besides, I know why I’m drifting into the dark side. My misery continues to seep through and dim my sunshine-y self. I’m a festering, brooding, bitter mess!

This is NOT me. This is NOT good.

I’m digging tunnels, and there may be some light at the end of it. And I know the light will clense me from all of this bitterness and negative emotional goop.

And one day, you’ll hear all about it. Hopefully soon.

Timing is Everything

Just added USC Trojans football schedule to my calendar. To much of my delight, my plane arrives back in California from my trip to Thailand at 2:00 p.m. on December 4. USC vs fucla game kicks off at 1:30. With all the customs and luggage, I should still be home in time to watch 4th quarter! Yey!

I’ll have to miss the whole Neutered Dame game though. Then again, it’s NOTHING compared to missing USC at Orange Bowl last year.

Fight the frell on!!!!

High Strung

Lauren introduced us to Foamy and Pilz-e. Damn squirrels. Funny. Not for little kids.

Last to know

Last night Lauren and I were watching her favorite “Nightmare Before Christmas” when the phone rang. It was Stephanie. The first question was, “Where are you??” According to Stephanie, she waited up half the night on Wednesday waiting for Lauren to come home.

Mind you, this was Saturday night, and she just called the find out where her 14-year-old daughter has been for the past couple of days.

There was a bit of miscommunication as well. Lauren told her brother Barrett that she was staying on until the weekend, but that message either never got to Steph or got lost in translation somewhere.

It was Saturday night, Brandon and I were the last to know about the disappearance of Lauren since Wednesday.

Actually, Lauren doesn’t even she was missing until her mom called here on Saturday. She didn’t know the message never got to mom.

Then again if your daughter didn’t come home on Wednesday night, wouldn’t you call her or the folks she was staying with that very night, or at least the next day?

A bit more salt to the injury, we were all the last to know that Lauren was expected at her paternal grandparents’ block party today. The plan was made but no one mentioned it to Lauren. Steph will just take her home from there.

Again, good times.

I love Stephanie. She’s great, and she makes mean chicken fried steak and all. But man, I just don’t know what to do with her about being a mom. Not that I would know more than she does. But hell, I wouldn’t wait 3 days if my daughter didn’t come home!

Lauren Week Continues

Stephanie is heading down to San Diego to be with her boyfriend. So Lauren is staying with us until Monday now.

Good times!
