5 Things To Do When You (Feel Like You) Suck At Everything

Have you ever have a day when you wake up and feel like a total failure of a human being? Yep. Welcome to the land of the unemployed. I’ve been out of a full-time employment for over a year now. While I have been freelancing steadily since August, it was never an easy transition to go back to sending out resumes, waiting by the phone, and getting rejections.  And when working on-and-off like I have been, constant fights with EDD over unemployment benefits never helps either. After so many turn-downs and/or lack of responses, not only I start to doubt...

Freeing My Creative Mind

It’s  been over 10 years since I worked in a truly creative environment. I had given up on being creative professionally.  When I got home, I didn’t do much either except for the costuming for Halloween/Renaissance Faire, food gift labels for the holidays, and the now-tradition Christmas e-card. Oh, and occasional alcohol-fueled rock star moments at the piano. It only took three months working with and for these guys at Ignited to get me to WANT to be creative. All. The. Time. I was tasked with reviving the company’s social media presence. So, for the next month, I read several...

Taking a Leap: One Year Later

Today is the first anniversary of my not having a full-time job. And what a year it has been!  I started it with 2 weeks in New Zealand, connecting with my cousins and traveling with my dad. (And I still don’t have all of the pictures up online yet!)  Then for a few months, I tried my hands at being my own boss and found that I had much to learn.  A few odd jobs later, with a lead from my friend Matt, I landed at Saatchi LA and found a workplace I have been searching for.  That 4-week contract...

It’s All Happening At Once

Today through Sunday, I will take my first step toward one of my bucket list item. I’m volunteering at WonderCon, a pop culture/comic convention that usually takes place in San Francisco, but it’s just down the way in Anaheim this year.  Pam got me involved in this because a) I’ve NEVER been to a Con of any kind, and b) If I do well, I might get a chance to go to volunteer at San Diego Comic Con in July. SDCC is on my bucket list. Nerd Mecca must be experienced once before I die. Some people have Paris and...

Enjoy the Little Things

At 4 a.m. this morning, I was jolted out of sleep by a bout of vertigo. Oh yeah. It’s back. Just a little over a week of having been on my feet again. #FML. Seriously. Fortunately, this one doesn’t seem to have the strength of the original version, but it was enough to nauseate me already.  I woke Brandon up, poor thing, to fetch me an anti-nausea pill. He asked if I want to do the Epley maneuver right away. I chose to sleep comfortably for a few more hours then do it when I’m actually ready to get up....

My Week in Vertigo

Hello, hello. I’m a place called Vertigo… Bono clearly has never had vertigo.  He has never been to where the entire world spins in front of your eyes and the floor shifts beneath your feet, so much so that you were thrown to the floor from how disoriented you are. Where you are so dizzy your stomach makes like a snitch and gives up everything it has. It was a horrible place to be.  And that was where I found myself on Saturday night. The day started out just like any other busy Saturdays. Early afternoon quick visit to a...
