Sleepy Blogger

I was just going to check email and crawled into bed as I haven’t slept very well for the past few nights. But first, I have to share with you the good news. Thank you for your email commending an Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) coach operator.  We at OCTA are proud of our staff and their commitment to provide quality customer service. The operator will be acknowledged for providing excellent service and professionalism. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We at OCTA look forward to continuing to serve you. My letter actually...

I AM a hobbit

I’m small. I like to sing. I like to dance. I like to drink, and at times drink more than I should. Except for the hairy feet part. I think I am a hobbit. Especially now that I realize I eat like one. I really do eat like a hobbit during the week at least the first half of the day. First Breakfast: One Yakult and gummy vitamin. (James turns us on to these. And we’re addicted!) Second Breakfast and Elevensies (more like Ten-ies): One choice for each of the meal, and I usually don’t eat the same thing. A...

Commute Happy

I bought this from the Container Store. That, my friend, is the gift from the Commuter Gods. I am a sleeper on the bus. I usually put my head forward and stay put that way all the way to Downtown. On the way home, I usually lean back on my fleece scarf if I have the front seat, or sideway on the seat with back support. Either way, my neck wasn’t happy about the strain. Comfort Creature Travel Buddy Pillow may be for kids, but I really don’t care when it’s this comfy. It has machine-washable soft fleece cover and...

Experimenting

I am going to try out a new template here. So if you happen by and see all sorts of craziness, please know that it’s self-inflicted. Thanks! ETA: I like the look and the color now, swapping out the fader pink and gray for the bolder pink and black.  The sidebar elements are still a bit problematic but I’ll get to that tomorrow.  At least everything is in its proper place....

Eat For a Cure

So the Lesser Weevils had our little fundraiser dinner tonight at Thai Issan in Cerritos.  Samone and Tom, the owner, graciously donated 10% of our tab to AIDS Walk. And they are promising 15% donation from now until June 27, one week after the walk (which I can still turn my money in, I think) at their other restaurant, the Delightful Crepes Cafe in Long Beach.  The Yelp review for the place is a little iffy.  Even I who had been there once think the place still needs a little work.  But they ARE working on improving the menu.  Give...

College Rules

I struggled to remember the 10 Golden Rules of college per the instruction of my awesome high school Physics teacher, Ed Cunningham. A few of them I had committed to memory as I managed to follow them for at least the first semester freshman year. You know, before the rest of your college life actually encroached on your studying. So, I wrote whatever I could remember down on a handful of note cards along with some that I just made up from experience. These cards and a copy of “The Alchemist” are on their way to Brandon’s niece Lauren in...
