Greased Lightning

My week came at me fast and left just as quickly. It seems like yesterday when I was just here, happily typing away, telling you guys about our hike at Holy Jim trail. Here we are, a week after.  Went by me in a blink. Inauguration Day was also our 7th wedding anniversary.  It was a new beginning for the country I live in and quite a momentous moment in my marriage. Last year, people said that America would rather elect a woman than a black man as president.  Here stands Barrack Obama in front of millions, the day after...

Onward to 2009

Not resolution.  Goals. Back in my Taekwondo days, our master had us turn in our 10 goals for the year and recap what you’ve accomplished the year before.  Guess I’ll start that tradition here on the blog this year. 1. Explore Kung-fu.  I did like Taekwondo but as strange as this may sound I’m looking to do something more flow-y.  Dance-like.  Capoiera would be cool to explore too. 2. Drink more water: one glass in the morning and one before bed.  Ah, the yearly goal.  I tend to give up after trips to the bathroom in the middle of the...

2008 Awards

Drinking Buddy of the Year: Dave the New Guy Well, at this point, Dave is not new any more.  Since Celeste has left the company, Dave has stepped up to be the man to call on for a little happy hour action.  As a matter of fact, Dave led the pack to the fun night in West Hollywood a few months back with Nik, Erin and I in tow.  That was quite a night. Bar of the Year: Suede Bar, Downtown LA Oh, how have we survived the hard day of work before Suede?  Suede opens up in the Bonaventure...

Repost: Stuck in Bangkok – Best and Worst

Repost from my Thai-Blogs.com entry. We finally are leaving Thailand tomorrow. Out of Suvarnabhumi, to my father’s relief. Getting up at 4 a.m. to go to Bitec check-in point for U-tapao would be torturous for the poor man. My planned 2-week vacation was extended to 19 days of bliss laced with frustration, thanks to the airport closures. However, it’s always good to be home. Things are always changing around here in the Land of Smiles. For better or worse. So here’s my best/worst list of my recent trip home. Best: Extended vacation. Worst: Brandon’s extra week of time off he...

Last Weekend

The long weekend is winding down.  So much had happened in our two weeks here in Thailand, the entire country can use a little break.  Seriously, the political scenes seem to have quieted just enough to get through the weekend. The tourists can certainly use the break.  Suvarnabhumi is open again.  Those of us who need to go/come home now can, and those who are coming/leaving here on holiday can too. On Thursday, Brandon and I took a little bit of an early start on the long weekend by taking a day road trip with 4 of my mom’s best...

Resting up

And today, we rested. I partied two nights in a row.  And lost my voice.  It didn’t help that I’ve been coughing since I got back from Phuket a week ago of all the sinus drainage.  I sound like Demi Moore right now.  Hahah. Monday with my family at my brother’s girlfriend’s bar and restaurant.  3 tables for 5 people was filled end to end with food from glass noodles Pad Thai wrapped in thin omelet, fried nuggets of pork “Larb”, to giant Lobster Thermidor the Girlfriend whipped up herself as a promise to my brother. Then there was the...
