Changed For Good

OakMonster - Doctor Who - We all change

2016 has been ridiculously colorful, eventful, and emotional for all kinds of reasons–personally, professionally, politically. My job changed at the end of 2015, and it’s been an interesting and fun journey since then. I said goodbye to my childhood home in Thailand in March. Brandon and I moved into our first home in August. I enjoyed springtime in Scottsdale, fell in love with Chicago early summer, and grew to despise the convention/tourist side of Orlando in the fall. In June, after a few years of trying to get the ball rolling, I finally took “Be Kind For Khun Noi” from...

The Best of Me

Smiley Puppy - Photo from BoredPanda.com

I’m never going to be a billionaire CEO with my picture on the cover of a magazine. I’m never going to make it on any Top 10 list. I’m never going to have millions of followers on social media. I’m never going to sing like Christina Aguilera. Okay, I’m never to sing like any professional singer anywhere. I’m never going to be instantly recognized by the public at large. I’m never going to be rich. Or famous. I don’t have that kind of drive or ambition. I don’t have that need to climb the ladder. But what I do have...

Goodbye House

OakMonster - Langsuan House - Bangkok - Thailand - 2014

As far as I am concern, there is only one house that I can really call mine. The house in Bangkok that I grew up in. Designed by my dad, this brick town home was way ahead of its time. It’s the house that launched several other brick town homes around the city. The first town home (on the right in this picture) was share between the household kitchen and living quarter for our cook and driver on the ground floor. (Yes, we were very Downton Abbey in that sense). Princess Grandmother’s quarter was on the second floor, and dad’s...

6-Month Check Up

The Fail Wailers - Fitzgerald's - Huntington Beach

Hey hey party people! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Frankly, I haven’t blogged because I’m ashamed of the state of my blog. JUST LOOK AT IT!!! I know it’s been broken for quite sometime now and I have all the intentions to fix it. But I couldn’t bring myself to the computer. Part of that is also literal, as in my office is a total FEMA disaster zone with all the cosplay and arts and crafts stuff everywhere that getting my desk is like a Spartan Race. As a part of my reorganizing, I can’t really put much away...

Day 25: Easy Like Sunday Morning

OakMonster.com - Reach for the sky

5 Thoughts It’s Sunday. Why am I up at 7 a.m. without the alarm for no reason at all? Oh right. I started coughing. So much for going to bed without Nyquil for the first time in a week. What a beautiful day outside and pleasant inside. It’s a great day to do whatever! And so we went mattress shopping. And it was virtually painless (except for when I cut my thumb on the laminated price sheet). We were in and out of the store in less than 30 minutes. Our new mattress arrived within a few hours. TV Binge...

Day 16: Halfway There

OakMonster.com - Brandon's x-ray

5 Thoughts It’s the halfway point, you guys! We’re almost through with the challenge. Are you all hanging in there with me? Good. My day of appointments was planned a week ago but it worked out beautifully after the two week of craziness I just had. I spent half a day running errands and the other half working from home. Working from home is super productive and kind of therapeutic after the past two days…except when it’s a million degree in my home office. But I survived. And then we some news that pretty much trumped any other thought I...
