Nerdvember Day 27: Han Solo

Inspiration: We were going over to our friends’ house for Thanksgiving dinner. Since we don’t have many Nerdvember days left, I really, REALLY want to wear my brand new Gold Bubble Clothing’s Sherlock Holmes dress since I didn’t get to do it last time. The dress looks AWESOME because it’s nice and snug. However, I thought about all the eating we were going to do and then I reconsidered my choice of attire. An A-line dress that does not restrict the belly is a much better choice! Components: Her Universe Han Solo dress I bought from Hot Topic. Star pendant....

Nerdvember Day 15: Star Wars

Inspiration: It’s half way point through Nerdvember. And a Saturday. I wasn’t wearing anything nerdy all day until we had to go to our friend’s birthday gathering. So, voila. Components: Star Wars “Save the Tree” hoodie and, of course, my Star Wars Vans. #Nerdvember Day 15: #StarWars marks the half way point. #settostunning A photo posted by oakley boren (@oakmonster) on Nov 11, 2014 at 6:36pm PST Comment from Muggles: I met a fellow USC alum at the shindig. Tawny Madison is shaking her head at this I’m sure. #GalaxyQuest #settostunning A photo posted by oakley boren (@oakmonster) on Nov 11, 2014 at 7:14am PST Challenges: I realized that I really don’t have that many geek accessories which sometimes could make putting together these outfits a bit of a challenge. Comment from Muggles: After I told them this was...

The Greatest Audition That Never Was

Steven Spielberg J.J. Abrams Joss Whedon Will Wheaton

I scrambled into a waiting room full of hopeful actors.  A friendly face looked up and waved me over to an empty seat next to him. “So, when are you going up?” I asked. “Soon,” he said. A few steps away, a glass door swung open.  A lady with a clipboard called out a name, and my friend stood up. “Break a leg!” I called up at him as he walked by. He gave me a thumbs-up as he crossed in front of the clipboard lady. The lady followed his line of sight to me, then looked down at her...

Five for Friday: Retro Hair, Les Miz Surprise, and Hulk Bunny Thump!

OakMonster.com - Hulk Bunny and Grant Imahara

Five for Friday is a weekly series about the five new things I learned each week. It could be anything from a new recipe, new skills, or a new life lesson. Stan Lee’s Comikaze is actually quite mellow…for now The Hulk Bunny had a great time last Sunday. I ran into a little girl Hulk, and that was awesome.  Lou Ferrigno was there at his own booth and people all rushed up to see him and get a picture. He grinned and pointed at a sign that says it’s $40 to have a photo taken with him.  I understand that...
