What a day!

Just got back from spending an entire day in Pasadena with Celeste a while ago. I was supposed to go to Nhien’s party in Glendale at 7:30 but by 6 p.m. I was beat. Let’s see here. 11:30 – Got to Celeste’s place. 12:15 – Got to the salon in Pasadena. Met Mary Ann, the stylist, Celeste’s good friend. 12:30 – Done with shampooing and having my glass of wine. 2:00 – Done with hair cut and styling. 2:15 – Settled in for lunch at Groucho Grill. Had my first Quilmes, Argentine beer. Yumm…. 3:00 – Mary Ann joined us...

No Post Left Behind

Okay. I have to get y’all caught up. But first. Paul called Brandon not long after we got home from his vasectomy appointment yesterday. In a little kid’s voice: “Daddy, daddy! Why did you cut us loose? Don’t you love us any more?” We damn near died laughing. Yep. The vasectomy was done. Brandon stayed home today and he’s feeling just fine. The horror of yesterday seems so far away. Well, let’s just say that he wasn’t numb enough for the last little bit of the procedure. Boys, you can uncross your legs now. We spent the rest of evening...

The V-Day

So, I missed the day of busy work. I missed the annual fireman benefit down on Hope street. I missed my eye doctor’s appointment…well, they canceled on me on that one. What a day to have a cold! So far, I woke up at 8. Back to bed at 10. Up again at 12. And back at again at 2. I’m feeling better, but not tip-top shape. But I’m good enough to get Brandon to his vasectomy appointment and to assist him after that. Yep. This is it, kids....

Memorial Day ponderance

I often say I don’t have a stand about the War in Iraq. Because I don’t. I don’t care why our troops were sent over there. But I care that they are there now. I don’t care if PODUS is an idiot. I care that troops are risking their lives right now. Soldiers have been deployed already. They are getting shot at and blown up already. Standing around in the safety of US soil they protect and bitching about the war may help bringing them home sooner, but it’s not bringing them home right now or bringing anyone back from...

Happiness is…

…seeing your best friend 6-month pregnant, and hanging out with a great group of people for the entire afternoon. J.C. and Erick are near due date, but they flew out to CA for the holiday to be with their friends and family. It was like being at their wedding all over again yesterday with Erick’s family and their friends. Good times! …sleeping for 10 hours straight. …watching X Men: the Last Stand first thing in the morning–well, right after breakfast of Campbell’s Chunky sirloin burger soup– and having theater popcorn for lunch. …laying on the couch for the rest of...

Spanish Inquisition

The Spanish Team won the Tsunami Memorial Design Competition Congratulations, ladies! (A week late.) Although, I must confess that I was rooting for the Australian team. I did love that underwater light show idea, but it was a bit too ambitious for Thailand. I did like American team’s design because it blends in with the environment. But then again, that might just be too much. Finland won me over with the banana leaf boats idea, but that was all there is for me there. And finally, Belgium. It looks great. Just not for this secluded lagoon. Anyhoo. Congratulations, you guys!...
