I watched “The Martian Child” this morning. The Martian Child thinks he’s from Mars. Others think he’s weird but his adoptive dad goes with it and accepts him anyway. I’ve always seen myself as an outsider since I was a kid. True, there were worse cases of “odd girls out” than how I feel, but I have never felt 100% belong anywhere. A part of me is always the odd girl out somewhere else. The geeklet among the “normal” people. But not geeky enough for the full-fledge geeks. The film snob among the mainstream Hollywood crowd. Not into the real...

My Tweep Annette tagged me with the me-me of 10 favorite things starting with the letter “O”.  Well, Annette got a “K” and that was quite a task. So far, my issue with the “O” is keeping it clean. LOL. And I’m just going to combine this with a Flickr meme Raven tagged me with a while ago. So, 10 “O” Favorites plus 10 random Flickr pictures of the said favorites! The Alphabet Favorite: The rule of the school is this: make a list of your top 10 favorite things! The catch is that all of your favorites have to...

Noticed my Nyquil induced hallucination the other day? Well, the bug I tried to squash with the Nyquil did bloom through Tuesday into a nice little cold. As a matter of fact, I’m blogging right now to wait for Nyquil to take a hold so I can go to bed. My boss was nice enough to let me work from home today. The extra two hours of sleep and half hour lunch time nap definitely helped me get through the day. That, and a pot of Yogi Tea, Defense with Echinacea, I brewed and drank all day. Along with the...

The 12 pictures of 2008. Also, to keep up with the tradition started last year, here is my First Sentences of 2008 summary. It was unnecessarily showy for an easy touch down. So, someone wants to buy OakMonster.com from me. BBC reports about a possible link that excessive Vitamin E intake may increase risk of lung cancer. My car is now in the shop. I KNEW it was too good to be true when Athena started to hang out with us, when she comes running to me when she hears the jangles of the keys, when she sits purring on...

Not resolution. Goals. Back in my Taekwondo days, our master had us turn in our 10 goals for the year and recap what you’ve accomplished the year before. Guess I’ll start that tradition here on the blog this year. 1. Explore Kung-fu. I did like Taekwondo but as strange as this may sound I’m looking to do something more flow-y. Dance-like. Capoiera would be cool to explore too. 2. Drink more water: one glass in the morning and one before bed. Ah, the yearly goal. I tend to give up after trips to the bathroom in the middle of the...
