Keeping the faith

So, someone wants to buy OakMonster.com from me. No. He did not send a legal or formal request. Just an email. I said no. Then he asked how much. I said no again. Then he tried to patronize me. Nice way to ask to ask someone to sell, bro. I would’ve given it some more thoughts. But man, I hate it when people are rude. I was the only OakMonster in town until someone went and coined the wine term. Or the term for the Oakmont golf course. And, of course, long before someone went and tried to make a...

Mrs. Hyde

Thursday night, I walked out of my office building toward the intersection as usual. I spotted these two younguns in suits, a girl and a very effeminate boy, walking toward me. They were deeply engaged in some lively conversation. He was talking with his hands and neither one of them were really paying any attention to where they were going. Seeing that, I started to make my way around them to my right so I could be out of their way. And I hoped that they would come to their senses once other pedestrians got closer to them. Did I...

Time travel

I was up at 6:30 a.m. this morning.  Jet lag is getting better! I did end up getting to work at 6 a.m. on Thursday morning.  LOL. I drove in and left promptly at 3 p.m. and miraculously got home without killing myself.  I did steal a solid hour of nap later in the afternoon though.  How solid?  I started the nap laying on the couch.  When Brandon came in to wake me up, I was sitting and I had no idea how I got there.  Yeah…interesting, isn’t it? But a sleepy Thursday worked out to my advantage as I...

Inside but outside

It’s strange to feel like a total stranger with your own family. I have been back 3 days now.  Friends of mom’s, dad’s and brothers have been pouring in and out of the place.  Everyone is buzzing about, working on the funeral details or talking to guests. And here I am, the usual Hostess of Everything, the Director of Fun, sitting awkwardly all by her lonesome just to get out of the way. Obviously, being the one far away when everything happened didn’t put me in the decision process.  And not being resourceful in Bangkok also put me out in...

Movie geeks

#1 I’m a Doctor Who newbie, having started watching the new version just this season. I didn’t like the guy who played the last Doctor and I really didn’t like Rose. But the new pair of Doctor and Martha Jones, these two are cute together. Anyways, last night’s episode…NO SPOILER HERE…Martha was introducing the Doctor to everyone as, well, “the Doctor”. Her mom said, “And you’re Doctor….?” And Martha said, “Just the Doctor.” Light bulb went on in my little brain. Me: Oh, NOW I get it! B: What? Me: “Doctor Who! He’s just ‘the Doctor’. No name. Just ‘the...

Oh, puh-lease!

Thailand’s Royal Po-pos have GOT to find something else better to do with their time than this! Turning pink with shame A pink ”Hello Kitty” armband wrapped around a khaki-clad arm is shouting for attention at the police Crime Suppression Division. It is a new disciplinary measure introduced especially for police investigators who refuse to play by the rules. Oh, and right above it on the webpage, the headline reads like this: 193 killed, 1,056 wounded in 5 months in troubled South I mean, seriously. What the fuck!?!? While the South is going to hell in a radical Muslim hand...
