Droplets of joy

A surprise gift in the mail. * Olaina sent me Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warrior band that was just a wee little bit too big. A REALLY big plastic bag. * Not as much fun as a really big box though. A cake you successfully baked and prepped the night before and frosted at 5:30 a.m. * Giada rules! And before y’all think I’m crazy, this cake was for my company potluck. I can’t frost it overnight because the hazelnut brittles would’ve melted into the frosting and it won’t be any good. Jason Chambers, my newest “celebrity” crush. * Well, he’s...

Social Calendar Explosion

Suddenly, I’m all over the place! That is why I haven’t really written much. Tuesday night, I led my fearless coworkers out to an early night of drinking at the Library Bar. It was so GOOD to be home! 🙂 (Well, we WERE going to the tres chic Edison but they were closed for private party.) In addition to our crew, we made some new friends from that Big Bank Across the Street. The gentlemen came to our event last month and a few contact emails later, they were inviting us out to drinks and vice versa. And voila! Instant...

Morning ponder

I felt like cereal this morning. I was going to pack a little baggy of Mini Frosted Shredded Wheat, but I didn’t feel like shredded wheat. So I got the little breakfast cup from downstairs. Raisin Bran Crunch beat out Honey Nut Cheerios. And now I realized that I do like Raisin Bran Crunch…except for the raisins. Not really liking the raisins. Is that wrong? What’s your favorite cereal?...

Day of rest

After a super productive Saturday, Brandon and I holed up in our apartment for a day of rest. Yesterday, with the one oven, I baked 10 dozen of cookies (the batters yielded 2 dozen and 3 cookies more than I needed for the AIDS Walk order), and made a fantastic dinner of Roman-style chicken and roasted potatoes. Originally, we were just feeding ourselves and Olaina who came over while Justin was off at a bachelor party. But her brother Neil happened to be in the neighborhood so he joined us as well. With the one set of washer and dryer...

Borrow Babies/Kitties/Puppies Weekend

The long weekend went like this. Errand Saturday. Baby and Kitties Sunday. Baby and Doggies Monday. I met J.C.’s baby Joshua for the very first time on Sunday. And yes, he IS tall! We brought J.C. some El Pollo Loco while Josh ate his Cheerios with us. Josh and I played quite a bit. Actually, he tackled me and drooled all over my face at some point. LOL. It was quite hilarious. What a happy little boy, this kid! Well, except when mommy went to put him down for a nap. He was tired but he didn’t like that very...

Flood gate

So I guess efficient sleep is the cure to writer’s block after all. 🙂 I happily woke up this morning with loads of things to tell you guys. Here goes the possibly longest blog in recent weeks. But here goes! Kicking Carl’s Angus Carl’s Junior is suing Jack in the Box over the “Angus…*giggle*” line of commercials. Here’s one. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIKizLGVtvA] As much as I LOVE Carl’s breakfast burger, I think I just have to boycott them. Take that Junior! Nobody screws with Jack!! Sushi Raucous I went to get sushi at Mamma’s Sushi with Aurora on Thursday night. My original...
