Face Time

I had my first ever facial today.  And it was good.I’m now nice and blotchy and glowing and relaxed.  Aside from the astringent/toner spray at the end there that stung like a mofo–however, my aesthetician fanned my face vigorously to some relief–everything was wonderful. While she left me for a minute while my face get steamed, it hit me. I used to follow my mom to her facial appointments. There was this one salon down the way on Soi Langsuan wayyyy back in the day that she used to go to.  Our driver would take us there.  We’d get our...

Pondering the upstream

I was up all night last night.  It wasn’t 4:30 a.m. before I crawled back into bed. It started with me coming home hungry and decided on eating two-day-old deep-fried salt cured fish (Plah Dad Deaw Todd) with rice.  I figured, it’s cured and it’s only two days old. I’ve eaten worse. A combination of having inhaled my dinner and possibly bad fish caused quite a reaction. Like I tweeted earlier, the fish was swimming upstream all night and is still threathening to go downstream as well. I tried to sleep but I couldn’t.  As to not to bug Brandon,...

Golden Boy

All of us survived the Oscars Marathon.  Olaina and I actually stayed for all five.  There was a good 45 minutes break between Ben Button and Slumdog Millionaire.  We all had a wonderful time. I still like Slumdog Millionaire best.  An FB friend raised a question of Slumdog being overrated and that there are better screenplays out there that should win.  I agree with him on that.  Lord knows how the Academy votes this year.  Are they looking at the craftsmanship?  That case, Benjamin Button should take the cake for the epic scale.  Screenplay and directing? Perhaps Frost/Nixon should win...

Holy Trinity Weekend

It’s over. My big event is all done.  Hellooooo, normal life! Kind of. I have next week to get content to our web people and we need to launch that puppy at the end of next month. But today, I will wrap up other things and will lunch at Drago Centro. Yep. Treating myself to a Dine LA menu as a celebration of having managed a sold-out event and having been with the Office for 4 years. I’ve also been blogging a little prolifically at the food blog since I started to remember to pick up my camera when I...

My hero Valentine

It was a rainy Friday but folks in the office were keeping it warm and fuzzy inside with our lovely annual Valentine’s Day potluck.  I mean, look at this spread! I made the “How deep is your love? 7 layers!” Dip for the office. I ate more sweets that I’ve eaten any in weeks…in one morning.  The bourbon sauce on the bread pudding was awesome.  But soon after eating that, I started to get a little bit of a headache.  I thought it might be because I didn’t have caffeine today, so I went back to the spread for some...

An adult moment

I was wishing I had more time each day at the office this past week. Sure, I am gearing up for the first of this year’s conferences my work put on.  But good god, I have never felt like I wanted to stay at work. Then again, having quite a busy social schedule during a stressful week doesn’t seem to help either. This weekend came with the rain.  All I wanted to do is hide. And I did for most of it. Well, my allergies was partly to blame on Saturday.  Today, my 4 loads of laundry is holding me...
