Homeward Bound

Once again, hello from Taipei airport. This time I only have about half and hour to kill so I will be brief. First, updates from a few days of activities. Friday didn’t happen as planned altogether. We didn’t have family dinner because a) dad had meeting that ran very late and might as well because b) I had a migraine so bad I wanted to take a spoon to my right eye and scoop the brain behind it out. Girls night out also was postponed to Saturday night. Saturday was a bunch of happy coincidences. First, lunch with Bua, my...

Dread

I dread the flight tonight in many ways. First, I’m scared to see mom.  I’m scared to face the reality that everyone else back home has been facing for so long.  I’m scared that I wouldn’t be able to handle it and fall apart all over the place.  I’m scared that I may not want to leave her side. I’m just fucking scared.  Period. And then, I’m scared my eardrums are going to blow up due to my serious sinus infection. West Hall.” God bless America. * On the other hand, yesterday on Kevin & Bean morning show on KROQ, my beloved Psycho Mike spoofed “Hey...

People v.s. People

On one hand: Support came pouring in once Celeste’s accident was formally announced at work. The get well card was signed in record time and everyone came by at least once a day to get the update. Eva and I converged at Celeste’s house around 7:30 for a visit. I brought with me an El Pollo Loco family meal which fed me, the Fireball and her man plus leftover. Celeste’s neighbors were over. Her bus buddies also came by for a visit. Phones were ringing every 30 minutes or so with everyone’s checking in and saying hi. People DO care....

Whoop. Where did it go?

In Thai, there is a phrase “Jai Hai“, literally means your heart (Jai) has gone missing (hai). The meaning of it is that your heart skips a beat when you’re startled. The same expression is used for when your heart drops when you hear bad news or read about something horrible that has happened. With all that had happened on Mega Fun Saturday, I was in some kind of a daze today. It didn’t help with Nhien having moved into Amy’s old office. And the girl had her hair up in a bun and wearing a white shirt. The whole...
