Who’s Zombie Now?

I am.

Usual system crash. Super Zombie Saturday took all out of me.

 As of 15:45 PST, 3960 people around the world danced to Thriller at 11 a.m. PST.

That includes 114 of us Thrill the World Los Angeles at Hollywood & Highland this morning.

Did you see us on ABC 7 at 4:30 p.m.?  Oh yeah.  I got a full shimmying shot into the camera there.  Haha!

Also on KTLA 5 for a blip, however I don’t know where that lady got her 10,000 number from. It’s not even in the press release!

I was an incredible experience, y’all.  Ordinary people pulled together.  Most are not dancers but just joined in for the hell of it.  And here we are.

As the impromptu “publicist” of the group, I think I did okay.  I didn’t get us all the press we could, but we did pretty good for the first time out.

Marketing and publicizing (is that a word?) are similar yet totally different.  But I’ve learned a LOT.

For sure, I’ve learned that one can’t really dance and run the show at the same time.  LOL.  Maybe next year we’ll get a better group of Zombie Groupies to help out so we won’t have to run around so much on our own.

Mahdroo. You da man!  Amanda. The goddess!  And Ines, you little Torontoan dynamo we couldn’t have done all of this without!

And all the helpers too…I can’t possibly thank them all but I’ll do my best here.

Babette.  Baby!  My friend Lee.  Queen of All Waivers!  Jennifer and Randy with the Fresh & Easy pick up!  Oh yes, thank you F&E for your donation of water and granola bars for our hungry zombies!  Dawn the production manager. Girly you rule!  Angel, Adam Sevani’s agent, darling, you gave us the best Michael Jackson we could ask for.

And of course, my hubby who illegally parked at the loading zone so he didn’t miss out on the first dance, then took great pictures of the whole thing, helped with packing up, and bought me slushy lemonade afterward.  Kiss!

Nhien showed up as well as my long lost dot come friend Christine and her brand spanking new baby Owen.  OMG indeed.

After this? A bath. USC Football. And a nice long uninterrupted sleep.

Oh, and building the temp site for ThrilltheWorldLosAngeles.com so we can host video tomorrow.

Madness descends

On top of the Big Gala, I have taken on the role of the publicity machine for Thrill the World Los Angeles on my off hours.

I’m doing pretty well, considering the first year of TTWLA and my involvement with the crew.  A good distraction from the Big Gala coming up.

Instead of Big Gala nightmares, I have TTW anxiety.  A good preparation for the real thing, I guess.

Ines, the creator of Thrill the World, is coming into town tomorrow and I’ll get to meet her as well as Amanda and Mahdroo to powwow on the rest of the plans.  A few more days to go now.

Feels like a Hooky

Ah. Columbus Day. A holiday where everyone else you know outside of government is hard at work.  Usually, Brandon would be off work today too, but Mr. Crazy Pants over there had scheduled a 2-day training course for today and tomorrow.

Here in my home office at 9:30 a.m. on Monday with a mug of tea.  It feels like I’m playing hooky.

It has been a very short and exhausting weekend so I’m grateful for today.  As you know, Saturday early afternoon was all zombie stuff.  Later that evening, we were at the Orange County Police Canine Association benefit show.  Horrible venue at Glover Stadium in Anaheim.  Parking was a mess.  Staging area was so that at some point no one was allowed access to the restroom because the K9 and their handlers were in the same tunnel.  And the helicopters couldn’t get low enough for us to see.  At Fullerton stadium, they even landed those bad boys!

However, the show was great.  I will have pictures up sometime today.  We sat so far away though, so I might now have the best pictures ever.  OCSD K9 Storm won the toughest dog this year.  Deservedly so.  That dog is a BEAST!  He looks like a son of a German Sheppard and a tiger.

Yesterday, we ran some errand and I worked on the Princess Leia costume a while.  Then we were off having dinner with Shane’s family for his dad’s birthday.

It would be a great day to not do anything today, but I do have a long list of stuff I have to do in front of me over here.

Like calling the apartment manager about the garage. (Check!) Our neighbor told us some dude was trying to pull our garage open the other day.  He confronted the guy who cussed him out and left on his bicycle.  A Los Alamitos officer came by this morning to take a look after Brandon reported it in.  We just really have to fix our garage door.

Then I have to catch up on household paper work.  Do some more PR stuff for Thrill the World.  Go to lunch with my friend Terence. Grocery shop. Do laundry.

And on top of that, I even sent email for auction solicitation for my Big Gala to businesses I thought of over the weekend on my day off.

At least I will try to sneak in a nap this afternoon.  Otherwise, it’s NOT a day off!  🙂

This a victory week for Thrill the World LA.  As cocky as this might sound, I must toot my own horn here on playing a part in this year’s organization.

First of all, I pitched to Hollywood & Highland as a possible venue for our October 25 performance.  And they agreed! One of our fearless leaders Mahdroo is going to discuss the details with the man in charge this afternoon.

200 Thriller zombies in the middle of H&H in the heart of Boulevard of Dreams.  That’s like WOW.

If we do well, which I’m sure we will, this going to be one hell of a relationship going forward with H&H for next year and beyond.  It’s a good foundation, I tell ya.

Then, I pitched to Kevin & Bean show.  Mahdroo will be on to promote Thrill the World on October 22.

Then I pitched to Torrance Daily Breeze, thanks to Muhammed, and landed the other leader and dance teacher Amanda an interview plus a photographer is coming out to our practice tomorrow in Manhattan Beach at Pollywog Park. 11am-3pm.

We’re going to be EVERYWHERE!
