6-Month Check Up

The Fail Wailers - Fitzgerald's - Huntington Beach

Hey hey party people! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Frankly, I haven’t blogged because I’m ashamed of the state of my blog. JUST LOOK AT IT!!! I know it’s been broken for quite sometime now and I have all the intentions to fix it. But I couldn’t bring myself to the computer. Part of that is also literal, as in my office is a total FEMA disaster zone with all the cosplay and arts and crafts stuff everywhere that getting my desk is like a Spartan Race. As a part of my reorganizing, I can’t really put much away...

Day 25: Easy Like Sunday Morning

OakMonster.com - Reach for the sky

5 Thoughts It’s Sunday. Why am I up at 7 a.m. without the alarm for no reason at all? Oh right. I started coughing. So much for going to bed without Nyquil for the first time in a week. What a beautiful day outside and pleasant inside. It’s a great day to do whatever! And so we went mattress shopping. And it was virtually painless (except for when I cut my thumb on the laminated price sheet). We were in and out of the store in less than 30 minutes. Our new mattress arrived within a few hours. TV Binge...

Day 24: A Day of Doing Nothing

OakMonster.com - Robin Hood's back!

5 Thoughts I’m doing absolutely nothing today. Except for making breakfast… …picking up my car (yay!)… …getting a massage… …and watch LOTS of TV. Hello, my Netflix list. It’s been a long time! Today’s Photo Robin Hood is finally returned to me whole, and with new shoes! There were scratches on the bumper for over a year that has bugged Brandon so much. Since his car was fixed up beautifully at the body shop, he dropped mine off to get fixed as well. So we had been a one-car household for almost 3 weeks. I got my car back from...

Day 22: Thailand Coup and Food Trucks…it must be Thursday

OakMonster.com - Thailand Coup 2014

5 Thoughts Thailand has a coup. It’s also a Thursday. My family’s fine. I’m fine. Nothing to see here, folks. Really. It’s not what you think it is. See my friend Greg’s post from the middle of the action. I realized today why I have been feeling a little bit stuffy-headed and a little woozy about the same time at work everyday since I’ve gotten the cold. I should stop taking extra strength cough medicine on empty stomach first thing in the morning. Whoops. Kogi truck went past me when I was coming home from work. So I checked twitter...

Day 16: Halfway There

OakMonster.com - Brandon's x-ray

5 Thoughts It’s the halfway point, you guys! We’re almost through with the challenge. Are you all hanging in there with me? Good. My day of appointments was planned a week ago but it worked out beautifully after the two week of craziness I just had. I spent half a day running errands and the other half working from home. Working from home is super productive and kind of therapeutic after the past two days…except when it’s a million degree in my home office. But I survived. And then we some news that pretty much trumped any other thought I...

Day 15: Ready for My Close Up

OakMonster.com Rambutans

5 Thoughts Tomorrow is a less busy day. Tomorrow you’re working from home. Tomorrow is Friday. You can survive this. You can survive this. I sat at the computer for only about 3 hours total and spent the rest of the time in the test kitchen. Surprised I actually ate all seven meals! I should probably log all of these running up and down the stairs as calorie deficit. LOTS of running up and downstairs today. Roasted fennel smells like roasted chicken. It’s really weird. I’ve always cooked fennel with something else so I never notice that before! After a...
