Oh Humanity

When disaster strikes somewhere in the world, if the media and celebrity is on board especially, suddenly you see the surge of donations and fundraisers everywhere. But what about the everyday?  Where did that overflowing of generosity and kindness go? Last week, my bus buddy was sitting with a bunch of other commuters waiting for the bus.  There was no room to sit so I was standing around the corner.  Once these folks got up to get on their bus, I moved in to sit down. There was a purse laying next to my bus buddy and I knew for...

Equal Opportunity Offender

I’m one of those fortunate enough to have and hang out with diverse groups of friends, both in real life and out here in the blogosphere and twitterverse.  All of them different shapes and sizes in colors of the rainbow with even larger variety of interests and points of view.  All have great sense of humor and never take anything too seriously. So we have been buying up gears from REI so we need to test them–and our skills–out somewhere safe.  Somewhere we can pack up and run home to if anything goes wrong.  So I snagged us one last spot of car camping at San Onofre San Mateo campground for Friday and Friday night. Friday morning, we woke up on our own sweet time, stopped to...

Everyday should be Memorial Day

As long as there are military men and women out there fighting for our freedom in a war or just doing their jobs somewhere peaceful, everyday should be Memorial Day. As LA Times reports, with the current war, it is such at Camp Pendleton. And just to shine another light on Memorial Day, we should all be thanking and remembering the FAMILIES of those out there VOLUNTEERING to fight for all of us. The wives and husbands holding down the fort while they are gone, not knowing if they would be coming back. The mothers and fathers watching their children...
